Windshield Repair or Replacement?

The right answer starts with the damage and your vehicle—not a one-size-fits-all rule.

What makes damage repairable?

A technician evaluates the type, extent, depth and position of the damage, including its effect on the driver's view and relevant vehicle features. Damage through multiple glass layers, contamination or other limitations may make replacement the appropriate option. A photo helps with initial planning, but an inspection confirms the recommendation.

What can a chip repair achieve?

For suitable damage, professional repair is intended to help prevent spreading and improve optical clarity while retaining the existing windshield. It does not guarantee an invisible result. A mark may remain, and the technician should explain the likely outcome before starting.

Should I wait?

Arrange an assessment promptly rather than assuming a small chip will stay the same. If damage obstructs your view or makes driving unsafe, do not drive the vehicle to us; contact us to discuss the next step.

What if a door or back window is broken?

Tell us exactly which window is damaged. We replace door glass, back glass, vent and quarter windows as well as windshields. The required part and installation process vary by vehicle and glass construction.

Do you handle trucks and specialty vehicles?

Yes. Local Auto Glass works with commercial fleets, heavy trucks and specialty glass needs. Include your truck's year, make, model, VIN and photos so we can assess the job and identify suitable glass.

Start with a clear quote

Send a close-up photo and a wider view of the affected window, plus your VIN and service location. We will explain your repair or replacement options.
