Windshield Safety
The glass you look through is also part of the system designed to protect you. A careful replacement starts long before the new windshield is set in place.

Why the bond matters
A bonded windshield can contribute to roof support, occupant retention and proper airbag performance, depending on the vehicle's design. A windshield that looks straight and clean is not proof of a correct installation. The glass-to-body bond and the procedures behind it matter.
What should a professional check?
The correct part must match the vehicle and its fitted equipment. Ask how the installer identifies camera mounts, sensors and other glass features; follows the adhesive manufacturer's preparation instructions; and determines when the vehicle can be driven. If calibration is required, it should be planned as part of the job.
Why rust cannot simply be covered up
Corrosion may be hidden until the old windshield is removed. It can interfere with a reliable bond. The condition should be explained to you and corrected appropriately before installation. Extensive corrosion may require repair by a body specialist.
Five questions worth asking
• Who will install my glass, and what training do they have?
• Is this glass compatible with my vehicle's equipment?
• What adhesive procedure will be followed?
• What is my minimum drive-away time?
• Does my vehicle require calibration, and will I receive the results?
